Senator Casey: “Rights Have Never Been More at Stake in an Election.”

PENNSYLVANIA – Senator Bob Casey campaigned across Pennsylvania in August, making stops from Erie to Bucks Counties. Throughout the month, Senator Casey rallied with supporters, highlighted his record of delivering for Pennsylvania’s working families, and discussed the critical issues at stake in this year’s election, including voting rights, women’s rights, and workers’ rights.

Delaware County Daily Times: Casey launches new ‘moms’ group initiative in reelection campaign

  • “In every single one of our 67 counties are families worried about their future, families that have been ripped off by corporate America, families that have been left out when we do tax policy,” Casey told several dozen supporters crowding the Al Pastor Mexican restaurant Thursday morning. 
  • Turning to the race, [U.S. Representative Mary Gay] Scanlon said it is a choice between candidates of very different character and very different backgrounds in public service.
  • Scanlon commended Casey for working with her in the Senate on bills like the Women’s Health Protection Act to restore Roe at the federal level, as well as issues like family leave, child care, child poverty and child hunger.
  • Casey also supported bringing back a 2021 child tax credit that he said benefited some 2.4 million families across the commonwealth, including 99,000 children in the county who were eligible.

New Castle News: Casey targets price gougers during campaign stop

  • Casey, who appeared at a Tuesday afternoon luncheon with Lawrence County Democrats, and stuck to the script by saying how he’ll continue targeting corporations who are artificially raising prices across many industries. The visit was part of his long-held strategy to drive down voting margins in red districts and to visit all 67 counties.
  • “They jack up those prices and we’re supposed to just shut up about it,” Casey said before about 50 county Dems at VentiSei Wine Bar on the East Side. “That’s what they want us to do. They say, ‘If we’re involved in price gouging, you better get used to it.’ We’re not going to get used to it. We’re going to fight them. We’re going to go after those price-gougers and hold them accountable.
  • Casey stressed the need for Congress to hold corporations accountable for price gouging and pass the new child tax credit to provide relief for middle-class families.

  • In front of about 70 people crowded inside a downtown Reading restaurant on Wednesday afternoon, U.S. Sen. Bob Casey rattled off a list of federal investments he has secured for Berks County over the past four years.
  • And, the 64-year-old Scranton Democrat said, he’d like to do even more. That’s why he’s running for reelection, asking the people of Pennsylvania to send him back to Washington D.C. for another six years.
  • “I’m running because I want to continue to deliver for the people of our commonwealth so that we can make progress,” he said. “And we have 37 specific examples of ways that we delivered just for the people of Berks County.”
  • Casey told the crowd that while he is immensely proud of what he has been able to do in the Senate, this fall’s election isn’t about that. It’s about what he will do in the future.

  • Casey and Booker spoke to a crowd of about 60 people at the Prince of Peace Baptist Church in Strawberry Mansion and were introduced by Bishop J. Louis Felton, pastor of Mount Airy Church of God in Christ and president of the Black Clergy of Philadelphia & Vicinity.
  • “Rights have never been more at stake in an election,” Casey said.
  • “Nobody has a better reputation in the Senate for being a bipartisan person,” said Booker, whose speech was heavy on religion. “Blessed are the peacemakers — and he is one of those folk.”

  • Senator Bob Casey was back on the campaign trail in Bucks County, hosting a rally at the Neshaminy Creek Brewing Co. in Croydon on Monday. 
  • And Governor Josh Shapiro was there to emphasize the importance of this race and the role Bucks County will play in November’s election. 
  • “This race, in a large measure, is about rights and fights,” said Casey. “The right to vote in democracy is on the ballot in this race and in every race. Women’s rights are on the ballot like never before in our history. Worker’s rights as well. And on all those issues […] I’m on one side, and my opponent is on the other. He will never vote for any of those bills, to protect voting rights, women’s rights, and workers rights.”
  • Governor Shaprio, the last speaker of the day, made very clear why he thought Casey deserves to be reelected. 
  • “One of the reasons I think Bob Casey is so effective is because he still shows up in places like Croydon,” said Shapiro. “He still gets in his car, and he shows up in communities big and small. […] He is authentically Pennsylvanian. And when he shows up, he does something that most elected officials don’t do. He listens.”

  • Sen. Bob Casey delivered a hopeful message regarding the national fight against fentanyl trafficking in a Saturday visit to Lancaster city.
  • “We are not powerless,” Casey told about two dozen county Democrats.
  • Casey noted April’s passing of the FEND Off Fentanyl Act, which expands sanctions inflicted on foreign organizations and drug cartels — particularly those in Mexico and China — involved with trafficking fentanyl into the United States.
