Senator Casey: “Without Unions, We Wouldn’t Have a Middle Class.”

PENNSYLVANIA – Last week, Senator Bob Casey joined union members and labor leaders across the Commonwealth to mark Labor Day and highlight his record fighting to protect workers’ rights. 

On Labor Day, Senator Casey marched with local union members in the Pittsburgh Labor Day Parade. On Tuesday and Wednesday, Senator Casey held campaign stops with labor leaders in Erie and Philadelphia to discuss his fight for workers’ rights.

  • Senator Casey: “I also think for a lot of Americans, some basic economic issues are at stake; getting costs down for families, trying to figure out ways to build upon some of the success of capping the cost of insulin like we did, investing in families with the Child Tax Credit, bringing that back to help families deal with higher costs.”

Northeast Times: Building Trades backing Casey 

  • The Philadelphia Building & Construction Trades Council last week formally endorsed U.S. Sen. Bob Casey Jr., who is seeking a fourth term.
  • [Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker] praised Casey for supporting the infrastructure bill that brought what she said was much-needed money to SEPTA and funds for a hydrogen hub that will create 20,000 jobs in the region.
  • If re-elected, he plans to support the Protecting the Right to Organize Act, which would strengthen employees’ right to collectively bargain. The bill was first introduced in 2019.
  • In the next term, Casey wants to pass a middle-class tax cut and make America energy independent.
