Safety and Security At Home and Abroad

Keeping Pennsylvanians safe is a top priority for Bob Casey.

Bob has partnered with law enforcement to make sure they have what they need to protect our communities, delivering funding for Pennsylvania law enforcement for bulletproof vests, SWAT gear, police cars, and ballistics shields. He fought to protect the Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) program, securing at least $20 million in grants to Pennsylvania law enforcement agencies that has helped hire 142 new officers across the Commonwealth. Bob has also used the appropriations process to help local law enforcement secure funding for critical equipment upgrades like radios and bomb squads, as well as proven violence reduction strategies.

He has worked to support law enforcement officers and their families, including passing legislation to increase Pell Grants for the children of fallen first responders and passing the Eric Williams Correctional Officers Protection Act, which makes sure correctional officers have non-lethal means of self-protection.

Partnering with law enforcement, Bob Casey is taking on our toughest challenges. He has championed public safety, including cracking down on illegal gun trafficking and keeping guns out of the hands of people with dangerous records. He worked across the aisle to pass the Combat Online Predators Act to increase sentences on stalkers whose victims are minors, and his Campus Sexual Violence Elimination Act is combatting sexual assault on college campuses.

Bob also knows that our national security depends on our leadership on the world stage. As a member of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, he has pursued a national security strategy that protects our interests, promotes human rights throughout the world, and supports those who serve our country. He helped win the fight to provide aid and support to Ukraine in its unprovoked war against Russia, to provide aid to our ally Israel to defeat a terrorist organization Hamas, and to provide billions for humanitarian aid in Gaza. He has also been a leader in the fight to stand up to China and has fought to crack down on China’s currency manipulation, and against unfair trade practices and U.S. corporations that invest in China at the expense of American workers.

Bob Casey believes border security is a critical part of keeping our country safe. He has voted more than 25 times to invest in border security, including voting for a bipartisan border security bill that gives the President new authority to shut down the border. He believes we must secure our border, protect the safety and security of our communities, and he supports comprehensive immigration reform that would allow us to do that while treating people with dignity and respect. Working across the aisle, Bob fought for legislation to secure more border agents and give those at the border more resources to do their jobs. He is a supporter of the DREAM Act and has fought back against child separation policies.

Fentanyl is devastating Pennsylvania communities. With his Stop Fentanyl At the Border Act, which provides resources for additional border personnel and inspection equipment, Bob is a leader in the fight to crack down on fentanyl coming into the country at ports of entry.
