Safeguarding and Expanding Affordable Health Care

Safeguarding and Expanding Affordable Health Care

Bob Casey believes that no one should ever have to go without quality health care because they can’t afford it. That’s why he is fighting to ensure that every Pennsylvanian has access to safe, reliable, and affordable health care.

He took on the insurance and pharmaceutical companies to cap insulin costs at $35 a month for seniors and cap all out-of-pocket costs for those on Medicare Part D by passing the historic Inflation Reduction Act. For the first time ever, Medicare is now able to negotiate lower prices for the life-saving drugs that seniors pay billions of dollars to access annually. Casey fought for legislation that is also helping to lower health care costs for the average family who buys insurance through an ACA marketplace by nearly $250 a month.

Bob is fighting for better care for all Pennsylvanians, and particularly the most vulnerable among us. He successfully backed the PACT Act to help veterans exposed to burn pits access the care they need. Bob believes that providing quality health care from birth provides a foundation for children for better health outcomes throughout their life. That’s why he’s fighting to expand CHIP and enroll every child in Medicaid at birth. Senator Casey is also a champion for caregivers and those who need long term care, including seniors and people with disabilities.

Bob believes Pennsylvanians should have access to quality health care no matter where they live, so he is working to ensure rural hospitals in the Commonwealth have the resources they need. He successfully fought to include provisions in the PACT Act to improve recruitment and retention of health care professionals at rural VA facilities. He’s now working to pass the bipartisan Rural Hospital Support Act to provide hospitals with the financial stability they need to continue treating patients.

Bob spearheaded efforts to fight back against attempts to repeal the Affordable Care Act, working with health care and disabilities advocates to help people understand the stakes for middle class families. As the Affordable Care Act faces threats from Republicans once again, Bob will continue to stand strong to protect and expand health care for people across the Commonwealth. He will continue his fight to stop Senate Republicans from turning Medicare into a voucher program and decimating funding for Medicaid.
