More Than 140 Moms Across Pennsylvania Join “Moms Oppose McCormick” In Support Of Bob Casey’s Re-Election Campaign

Bob Casey Has Fought for Reproductive Rights, Equal Pay for Equal Work, Expanded Access to Child Care, and Paid Family Leave

PENNSYLVANIA – More than 140 moms across the Commonwealth came together to launch the Moms Oppose McCormick coalition, a group of Pennsylvanians leading the effort to re-elect Senator Casey.

Senator Casey has a record of fighting to make a difference for women and families across Pennsylvania. He has worked to protect and expand women’s access to reproductive healthcare, family planning care and contraception, fought for a decade to ensure pregnant women are treated fairly in the workplace, and has been a staunch supporter of expanding the Child Tax Credit and Child Care Tax Credit to put more money in parents’ pockets and ease the financial burden of raising children.

Meanwhile, his opponent, David McCormick, supports an abortion ban with no exception for rape or incest and called the Dobbs decision a “great victory.” McCormick has said he would vote against the Women’s Health Protection Act and has failed to support the Right to IVF Act and Right to Contraception Act.

The coalition includes moms across the Commonwealth, from Erie to Lycoming to Montgomery Counties, including health care workers, educators, and community leaders. U.S. Congresswoman Madeleine Dean (PA-4), U.S. Congresswoman Mary Gay Scanlon (PA-5), and U.S. Congresswoman Chrissy Houlahan (PA-6) will be chairing the coalition.

Hear from the chairs of the Moms Oppose McCormick coalition:

“From abortion access to IVF, McCormick has shown time and again that he does not stand with Pennsylvania women, girls, mothers and families,” said Congresswoman Madeleine Dean (PA-4). “On the other hand, Bob Casey has repeatedly shown himself to be a champion for reproductive rights, maternal health, childcare, and more. We must send Bob Casey back to Washington in November to continue fighting for our women, children, and families across the Commonwealth.”

“The decision of when and how to become a mother should be left to a woman and her doctor, not extremist politicians like Dave McCormick,” said Congresswoman Mary Gay Scanlon (PA-5). “That’s why I’m chairing Moms Oppose McCormick and standing with Bob Casey. He is the only candidate in this race who has, is, and will continue standing up for the health, safety, and personal freedoms of women in our Commonwealth.”

“From fighting to lower costs to protecting our most important rights, Bob Casey is a champion for Pennsulvania’s children and families,” said Congresswoman Chrissy Houlahan (PA-6). “Bob believes women should have the freedom to make decisions about their own bodies and that’s why I’m proud to chair the Moms Oppose McCormick coalition and support his re-election campaign.”

“I’m joining Moms Oppose McCormick because David McCormick does not fight for Pennsylvania’s moms or the issues we care deeply about, such as funding public education, gun violence, and reproductive healthcare,” said Brittney Pagone, a registered nurse and leader of grassroots group PA Moms 4 Change. “Bob Casey has always stood up for families like mine, and I know that he’ll always keep fighting to deliver for us.”
