Philadelphia Tribune Editorial Board: The Philadelphia Tribune endorses Bob Casey for U.S. Senate In Pennsylvania

  • The Philadelphia Tribune strongly endorses Senator Casey for re-election.
  • McCormick is a politically inexperienced former hedge fund CEO who has embraced former President Donald Trump and the extremist MAGA agenda.
  • Casey […] is an experienced and effective political moderate who has supported common sense legislation on the economy, health care, gun control laws, voting rights, abortion rights and other issues important to Pennsylvania voters.
  • He has supported bills like the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the American Recovery Act, the Inflation Reduction Act, and the CHIPS and Science Act, bringing home dollars for roads, bridges, education and health care. McCormick has opposed these measures that have benefitted Pennsylvanians.
  • On abortion, Casey voted in favor of the right to an abortion established under Roe v. Wade, the U.S. Supreme Court’s 1973 landmark decision on abortion rights. As Casey correctly points out, most Americans believe their daughters shouldn’t have fewer rights than their mothers.
  • McCormick supported the U.S. Supreme Court’s 2022 decision to end federal protection of abortion rights. McCormick said he supports leaving the issue up to voters in each state to decide, which would mean some women won’t have the right to an abortion.
  • On voting rights, Casey supports the John Lewis Voting Rights Act and has fought to make voting more accessible to people with disabilities and people in states with a history of voting rights violations.
  • On clean energy policy, Casey supported legislation that resulted in billions of dollars from President Joe Biden’s 2021 infrastructure law, which is accelerating the country’s clean energy economy and creating jobs.
  • In addition to supporting issues important to Pennsylvanians, Casey has a record of legislative accomplishments including his ABLE Act, which allows people with disabilities to save for their future, and his work to cap the cost of insulin at $35 a month.
