FACT CHECK: Bob Casey is Committed to Securing the Southern Border and Cracking Down on the Fentanyl Crisis

PENNSYLVANIA — Senator Casey is working hand in hand with law enforcement to stop the flow of fentanyl, and has passed bipartisan legislation to sanction Chinese fentanyl producers. Meanwhile, David McCormick invested millions in China’s largest producer of fentanyl and even opposed a bipartisan border deal that would’ve helped prevent fentanyl from being trafficked across our border.

FACT: Senator Casey has worked across the aisle to stop the illegal spread of fentanyl from China and other countries, and to provide the resources necessary to track and detect fentanyl. 

FACT: David McCormick opposed a bipartisan deal to secure the border and combat illegal fentanyl trafficking.

  • David McCormick publicly opposed historic bipartisan legislation, which was endorsed by the border patrol.

  • The bill included the FEND Off Fentanyl Act, co-sponsored by Senator Bob Casey.
    • ABC News: The bipartisan border package included “The FEND Off Fentanyl Act to impose sanctions on groups and nations that participate in the distribution of the ultra-deadly opioid.” 


FACT: Senator Casey supports comprehensive immigration reform that secures our borders and protects our national security.

  • Senator Casey has voted more than 25 times to secure the border, including voting for more border patrol agents, additional fencing, and better screening technology for fentanyl. 
  • Casey voted for a bipartisan measure that would have added 700 miles of fencing to the border and doubled the number of U.S. border agents.
