NEW: Today, Casey Campaign Launched a New Ad Exposing David McCormick’s Investments in Chinese Fentanyl

State Representative Aerion Abney: “The Contrast is Stark and It is Clear: David McCormick Puts Profits Over Pennsylvanians, While Senator Casey Is Fighting on the Side of Our Families”

Pittsburgh Fire Fighters Vice President Tim Leech: “While Pennsylvania Families Struggled Against the Loss of a Loved One, [McCormick’s] Only Concern Was How to Make Even More Profits”

PENNSYLVANIA – Today in Pittsburgh, the Casey campaign continued the On Our Side Road Trip, “Fight for Our Families” with a press conference featuring local leaders and Pennsylvanians with personal experiences with the devastating fentanyl crisis. They discussed Senator Casey’s long record of fighting fentanyl trafficking and supporting those struggling with addiction, and called out a recent report detailing David McCormick investing millions in the biggest fentanyl producer in China.

Today, Bob Casey for Senate released a new TV ad highlighting how Dave McCormick profited off Pennsylvanians’ pain by investing in Chinese fentanyl. Watch HERE

“David McCormick invested in China’s largest fentanyl producer when he knew China is the source of most of the fentanyl trafficked in the U.S. and that makes it clear Pennsylvanians can’t trust him to be for them,” said State Representative Aerion Abney. “We deserve leaders like Bob Casey that are working to combat fentanyl trafficking, not David McCormick who has put his own bottom line ahead of Pennsylvanians.”

“As a firefighter, I’ve seen the devastating impacts that the fentanyl and opioid crisis has had on Pennsylvania communities and families. I am thankful for Bob Casey’s work to support Pennsylvanians struggling with addiction,” said Pittsburgh Firefighters Vice President Tim Leech. “It’s shameful that Senator Casey’s opponent is asking to represent Pennsylvanians when he has consistently put profits over finding a solution to this epidemic.”

“I’m grateful to know that Bob Casey is working to support Pennsylvanians that are struggling with the disease of addiction as well as their families,” said Peggy Heidish, bereaved mother whose son died of fentanyl poisoning. “We need people like Bob Casey in the Senate. He has listened to the Pennsylvania families that have faced these struggles, and he’ll continue his advocacy for victims of fentanyl poisoning and their families. His work to keep fentanyl out of our communities will save lives.”

Bob Casey has a record of fighting fentanyl trafficking and supporting those struggling with addiction. He successfully passed the FEND Off Fentanyl Act, which cracks down on the fentanyl producers in China and the international crime cartels who are bringing fentanyl over the border. He also cosponsored the STOP Act, which improves the detection of fentanyl being smuggled in from China through the U.S. Postal Service, and voted twice for the bipartisan border security bill, which would give the president new authority to secure the border.

As CEO of the world’s largest hedge fund, David McCormick led Bridgewater Associates while it invested nearly $1.7 million in China’s largest fentanyl producer. China is the source of the vast majority of the fentanyl that Mexican drug cartels traffic into the U.S. and the same year McCormick invested millions in these investments, fentanyl killed more than 4,000 Pennsylvanians and fentanyl seizures in Pennsylvania increased by 346%.
