Here’s What Pennsylvanians Are Reading:

Senator Casey held a campaign event in Delaware County focused on his vision and record delivering for Pennsylvania’s children and families.

Delco Times: In Campaign Stop In Delaware County, Casey Underscores 2025 Tax Battle As Impactful On Children, Families

  • Casey, standing in front of a map of all 67 counties in the state, joked at the outset of Friday’s event that the densely populated Philadelphia suburb of Delaware County could be the deciding factor in the 2024 election.
  • The focus Friday was on […] Reducing child poverty through an expanded child tax credit; ensuring children have access to affordable health care; lowering the cost of child care; bolstering education; standing up for pregnant women and mothers in the workplace; and protecting access to family planning care.
  • “When you rig the tax code for 40 years, like the corporate far-right has done, that crowds out investment in children, it crowds out investment in strategies to lift up seniors and the most vulnerable among us,” he said. “So one of the most important reasons I’m running is to be in the Senate in 2025 and to go to battle on the tax code, because if we allow (Republicans) to have a majority again, like they did a few years ago, they will rig the tax code again to the detriment of children, seniors, the middle class and a lot of vulnerable Americans.”
  • Casey also took a couple of swipes at McCormick, emphasizing that the Pennsylvania native had lived and worked in Connecticut for much of his time at the hedge fund Bridgewater Associates from 2009 to 2022.
  • Casey said that during that time, Bridgewater increased investments in Chinese companies “by more than 100,000 percent,” including $1.7 million in one company that produces 90% of China’s fentanyl, per a July 9 report by The Keystone.

  • Reporter: The veterans gathered to see Casey spoke of suicide among those who served and seemed solidly in the Senator’s corner.

Senator Casey also discussed his record of delivering for Pennsylvanians on a Centre County radio station.

  • Casey: “I want to continue to serve in the United States Senate so I can continue to deliver for the people of our Commonwealth. And I think my record is unmatched in terms of delivering for the people of our Commonwealth. […] I am proud of the fact that just in Centre County alone, we delivered $18 million for K through 12 education. The federal government has never, ever provided that kind of support for local education.
  • Casey: “I was also able to deliver for the county investments in major priorities, whether it’s public safety or infrastructure. For example, the center volunteers in medicine, we got funding for them to renovate a building for a new clinic to serve low income and uninsured and underinsured residents of the county. […] I want to continue to deliver and the second reason for running, I want to continue to fight and win the battles on basic protections for the American people, preserving and protecting Medicare, Social Security and Medicaid, all of which are on the chopping block because of this extreme right agenda.”

Senator Casey joined Pennsylvania seniors in West Chester for a discussion on the importance of Social Security and Medicare and held a conversation on reproductive rights with the grassroots organization Red Wine & Blue in Bucks County.
