PENNSYLVANIA – Yesterday, Senator Bob Casey released “Take That,” a new TV ad highlighting his support for American-manufactured steel and working people in Pennsylvania. Senator Casey fought to pass a law ensuring federal infrastructure projects are built with American steel. He is committed to protecting Pennsylvania’s steel industry and is a champion for our workers and the good union jobs that have supported working families in the Commonwealth for generations.

What They’re Saying:

United Steelworkers District 10 Director Bernie Hall

  • “Senator Casey is a champion for Pennsylvanians workers and industry. While he was fighting to pass a law ensuring federal infrastructure projects are built with American steel, his opponent David McCormick was investing hundreds of thousands of dollars in foreign competitors.”
  • “Senator Casey has proven that he stands with working people – his opponent stands with Wall Street billionaires. Senator Casey is the best friend Pennsylvania steelworkers have in Washington.”

UAW Local 3303 President Jamie Sychak

  • “My family has worked at the Cleveland Cliffs Butler Works steel mill for generations, just like so many families in our community.”
  • “Senator Casey has stood up for working families like mine by fighting to protect Pennsylvania’s steel industry and the good union jobs it creates. Meanwhile, his opponent David McCormick was outsourcing American jobs to line his own pockets.
  • “We need someone that will stand with Pennsylvania workers, not sell us out to the highest bidder.”

Executive Business Manager of Pittsburgh Regional Building and Construction Trades Council Greg Bernarding

  • “Pittsburgh is a union town and a steel town. Bob Casey fought for both by successfully passing the bipartisan infrastructure law that protected American manufacturing and created thousands of good-paying union jobs.”
  • “Meanwhile, his opponent David McCormick led his hedge fund in making millions by investing in foreign adversaries. Senator Casey is the labor ally in this race and the leader workers in Pennsylvania need.”

Lieutenant Governor Austin Davis

  • @Bob_Casey has spent his entire career standing up for Pennsylvania workers! We need to send him back to the Senate to ensure workers have a seat at the table! #LetsWork

Pennsylvania Capital-Star: New Casey ad focuses on American steel, playing to Pittsburgh audience

  • With his focus shifting towards the general election, U.S. Sen. Bob Casey (D-Pa.) has released a new television ad promoting his support for American steel.
  • “Pennsylvania steel built America. Our bridges, buildings, and skylines,” a voiceover actor says at the beginning of the 30 second ad, first viewed by the Capital-Star. “But yinz wouldn’t believe it. Our own government turned their backs on us.”
  • The ad goes on to detail how Chinese steel was used to build infrastructure in the United States, but notes Casey supported the bipartisan infrastructure law signed by President Joe Biden and his administration’s guidance from April 2022 requiring federal infrastructure be built with American steel. A worker in a hardhat says “take that, China.” At the end of the ad, Casey says he will “always stand up to China to protect American workers.”
