Lehigh Valley Express-Times: Bethlehem Mayor J. William Reynolds: Thank Sen. Casey for $9.9M grant that will transform Bethlehem’s West Broad Street
- Just recently, Bethlehem received $9.9 million in federal funding to upgrade one of our city’s busiest streets, West Broad Street.
- Many people worked together to make this project a reality, including U.S. Rep. Susan Wild, D-Lehigh Valley, but we would not have been able to break ground without U.S. Sen. Bob Casey, D-Pa.
- Casey was decisive in working on and successfully passing the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act that created the Safer Streets Program, which funded this improvement.
- Not only did Casey fight to pass this law, he advocated at the federal level to bring this money back to Bethlehem. Projects like these demonstrate how critical it is to have an effective lawmaker, like Casey, representing us on Capitol Hill.
- “While Washington D.C. can feel far for us, Bethlehem and Pennsylvania never feel far away for Casey. [Casey] has delivered millions of dollars for big projects in communities across our Commonwealth because he’s always thinking about how he can deliver for Pennsylvanians.”
Pittsburgh Tribune-Review: State Representative Nick Pisciottano: Casey helping to keep pedestrians safe
- I’m writing to call attention to the fact that shortly before the new year, Allegheny County received much-needed federal funding — $520,000 — to help make the streets in our county safer for pedestrians.
- An urgent problem like this required more than just a local and state effort. We needed help on the federal level — and Sen. Bob Casey came through. He was instrumental in helping pass the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which is providing funding to help our county make essential infrastructure and policy changes to reduce traffic fatalities. He then helped make sure Allegheny County got our fair share of this desperately needed funding.
- As a state representative serving our community in Harrisburg, I know how hard it is to get funding and projects like this across the finish line. That’s why I’m thankful we have an effective leader like Casey representing us in Washington. He’s not only delivering for Allegheny County, but all of Pennsylvania.
Williamsport Sun-Gazette: Another big piece of levee puzzle secured
- [Williamsport Mayor Derek Slaughter] highlighted Casey’s visit saying it was for critical infrastructure that protects billions of dollars of properties and investments. The levee required upgrading to ensure that peace of mind referred to by Casey and assets and property are protected in the event of a rain or high water, he noted.
- “I want to highlight that Senator Casey stopped by,” he said. “I don’t think we can overstate the importance of this Congressional-directed spending and the importance of his highlighting this critical infrastructure.”
