PENNSYLVANIA – Senator Bob Casey is leading the fight to tackle greedflation and shrinkflation, and working to lower costs for families across the Commonwealth.

New Castle News: Casey targets price gougers during campaign stop
- Casey, who appeared at a Tuesday afternoon luncheon with Lawrence County Democrats, and stuck to the script by saying how he’ll continue targeting corporations who are artificially raising prices across many industries. The visit was part of his long-held strategy to drive down voting margins in red districts and to visit all 67 counties.
- “They jack up those prices and we’re supposed to just shut up about it,” Casey said before about 50 county Dems at VentiSei Wine Bar on the East Side. “That’s what they want us to do. They say, ‘If we’re involved in price gouging, you better get used to it.’ We’re not going to get used to it. We’re going to fight them. We’re going to go after those price-gougers and hold them accountable.”
- Casey stressed the need for Congress to hold corporations accountable for price gouging and pass the new child tax credit to provide relief for middle-class families.

- Casey in 2023 issued a series of reports on rising prices. His office found in part that while inflation rose 14% over a two-year period ending in July 2022, corporate profits grew over 74% during that time.
- Since then, he has helped to champion legislation that would create a national ban on price-gouging and questioned companies like Walmart and Amazon about how they set prices. He has also criticized manufacturers for reducing the size of products or quantity of items in packages without reducing prices, known as “shrinkflation.”
- “My legislation would give the federal government the same powers to go after the big corporations that jack up prices on American families,” Casey said in a statement.
